They deal with social usages and customs \expndtw12 ^ry-day life. In them we see the beginning of \expndtw11 ind criminal law. Of course, they treat more \expndtw1 stively of the religious, but touch only lightly on \expndtw6 cular, aspect of law. The principal \i Dharmasutra \i0\expndtw2 :s are Gautama, who "can hardly date from later \expndtw12 about 5.00 B.C."\super 1\nosupersub  and Bauclhyayana, who is \expndtw2 sed to have belonged to Southern India. Next \expndtw-1 Apastamba, assigned by Buhler to about 400 B.C., \expndtw2 ^asistha who certainly flourished after Gautama, \expndtw3 amba appears to have belonged to the South, per-\expndtw2 ;he Andhra country, but Vasistha was doubtless a \expndtw1 lerner.
